Libraries, Oh My
Libraries are an extremely valuable resource to a writer. And best of all, there free!!
I am an avid reader, a book nerd, and broke. I cannot afford
my habit so I have to supplement where I can. This has come in handy over the
years. I have also discovered author’s this way that never would have come
across.
As I’ve said before, I have more library cards than I do
credit cards. The libraries I have used previously too carry on my reading
addiction were:
Virginia
·
My mother’s bookshelves
·
Danville Public Library, Danville, VA
·
Danville Community College LRC, Danville, VA
Texas
·
Copper Mountain Library, Killeen, TX
·
Harker Heights Public Library, Harker Heights,
TX
·
Casey Memorial Library, Fort Hood, TX
Kentucky
·
Hardin County Public Library, North Branch,
Radcliff, KY
·
Hardin County Public Library, South Branch,
Elizabethtown, KY
·
Barr Memorial Library, Fort Knox, KY
I have used the libraries in Kentucky to their full extent.
The Radcliff library provided me with my first research tool on selling myself
as an author. The Complete Idiot’s Guide
to Getting Published was the only book my local library had available for
an aspiring author. That led to finding Ferguson’s
Careers in Focus: Publishing in Elizabethtown that gave me the idea into
all the fields I had to research if I wanted to be a real author. This lack of
research material sent me to the library on the military base my husband is
stationed with. Barr Memorial Library has provided me with boundless books to
research in reaching my goal.
Check out your libraries. Research until your heart is
content, all for free…
